I am so thankful to have been offered the Artist in Residence at Ro2 Art Gallery in Dallas, TX. I just moved into the space this week and have already started creating new work.

When my Artist in Residence Happens?

My artist-in-residence starts on Nov 1st, 2022, through Jan 23rh, 2023, at Ro2 Art Gallery in Dallas, TX. This will be my studio space for the next three months.

What Is my Artist in Residence Art Studio?

My artist-in-residence studio is a large white box with great lighting and walls that will allow me to create a new body of work. I have plenty of space to spread out and play with concepts while surrounded by the art I create. I decided to give the studio the nickname “White Cube” as, from the psychological point of few, it appears to be a perfect puzzle to solve, and it certainly translates to my art.

In this studio, I can be anywhere without distraction, painting in peace or creating an idea to share with a client. Currently, I am in the process of finishing up black and white paintings that I began working on this week.

I plan to start a new series on top of these ink-on-paper portraits. I hope to find inspiration in this material and form new experimentation ideas in my work.

I am interested in creating works that complement my journey of understanding and appreciation for the world around me. My work is figurative and abstract at the same time. I want to show the parallels between seemingly opposite concepts through my paintings. Something that I find beautiful in what you might consider mundane.

This week I mainly focused on unpacking boxes with my tools and paints and setting up space for the next three months. This is an exciting opportunity that will allow me to develop paintings.

I’m excited to be close to the gallery environment and collector community. The future of art is exciting.
