Echoes of Seasons 2022-23

The series encapsulates the resilience and adaptability of the human spirit, akin to the relentless progression of nature’s seasons. My approach to these large canvases draws inspiration from the multi-paneled altars of Polish churches, creating a visual dialogue that invites viewers into a reflective space.
Each piece, segmented to represent life’s cardinal directions, symbolizes the multitude of choices and paths we encounter. This artistic exploration, likened to the layered complexity in Freud’s chocolate cake metaphor, represents the seasonal changes of our inner selves, revealing the profound impact of life’s experiences on our journey.

Owing To The Absence 2022-23
Small And Large-Scale Ink Paintings On Paper And Wood Panel
“Owing to the Absence” is a series of ink paintings I created during my art residency in Dallas from 2022 to 2023. This work, which I have executed on paper and wood panels, explores themes of presence and absence through a pure, monochromatic lens. Each piece in the series, characterized by its particular application of ink, explores the subtle complexities of visibility and invisibility.
The series uses the simplicity of black ink to create a range of tonal variations, capturing the essence of absence in a substantial form. This choice reflects engagement with the medium’s potential to express contrasting degrees of shadow and light, metaphorically representing life’s definite and elusive aspects.
Through “Owing to the Absence,” I aim to provoke contemplation among viewers, encouraging them to consider the spaces between—the unspoken, the missing, and the emptiness. The artworks invite a thoughtful look at what is present as much as it questions what is not, making each piece a silent yet powerful communicator of personal and universal narratives.
This series symbolizes a technical exploration of ink as a medium and incorporates a philosophical investigation into the elements that shape human perception and experience.
