The Art Gallery at Collin College will host the exhibition Echoes of Seasons by artist Bartosz Beda from Sept. 29 through Oct. 26 at the Plano Campus. A reception will be held from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. on Oct. 24. The art exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.

Beda describes Echoes of Seasons as “a harmonious blend of abstraction and figuration, a union where neither dominates the painting.”

“In this exploration of the human experience hidden under layers of metaphorical Freud cake, the paintings serve as windows into the complex seasons of migration of human nature,” Beda said.

Visitors are encouraged to join faculty, staff, and students for an Artist Talk in the gallery from Noon-12:45 p.m. on Oct. 10 to hear Gallery Director Anna Fritzel interview Beda about his recent artwork.

Note from the Artist

I’m delighted to share the unveiling of my solo exhibition, “Echoes of Seasons”, hosted within the museum-like art gallery space in Plano, TX. With great anticipation, I present an exhibition of new paintings that encapsulate my artistic vision.

This exhibition culminates my endeavor to harmoniously blend abstraction and figuration, developing a captivating union where neither element overshadows the other. Through my artwork, I explore the human experience, inviting viewers to peer through these painted windows into the intricate tapestry of inner migration.

Incorporating the symbolic framework of the four seasons, I’ve chosen to illuminate these themes with thoughtfulness and evocation. Similar to the seasons’ perpetual transition, the lives of those who undertake arduous journeys in pursuit of new beginnings undergo their cyclical transformations. The rhythmic cadence of the seasons mirrors the perpetual ebb and flow inherent in the immigrant and migrant narrative.

Within the exhibited artworks, I navigate the depths of the human experience, employing a metaphorical lens akin to Sigmund Freud’s intricate layers of the human psyche – often compared to a multi-layered cake. In this context, the “metaphorical Freud cake” symbolizes the concealed strata of meaning, emotions, and intricacies inherent to our existence.

These paintings, positioned as windows into our collective human nature, unveil the intricate and multifaceted migration seasons. Not confined to physical translocation, this exploration also encompasses the emotional, psychological, and spiritual transitions that shape our lives.

By seamlessly intertwining abstraction and figuration, complemented by the evocative metaphor of the “Freud cake,” my artworks beckon viewers to contemplate the profound facets of the human journey. Particularly poignant in the context of migration and the dynamic seasons of existence, this collection serves as an invitation to ponder the interconnectedness of these themes.

I invite you to join me on this reflective voyage at my solo exhibition, “Echoes of Seasons”, from September 29 through October 26 at the Plano Campus. Your presence would be an honor as we collectively delve into the intricate layers of the human experience.
